Political Science is the study of government and public policy and of the political behavior of individuals and groups. It uses both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to examine political systems in the United States, all countries and regions of the world, and international relations.

Political science students understand the dynamic and changing political world in which we live and its ramifications for our lives. The understanding of how politics work, the motivating factors behind public policy and the use of public strength to advantage as well as many other topics are critical to political science.

Students will demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of the content materials relative to their studies in Political Science.  More specifically, students will use course content to: identify, describe, analyze and evaluate major events, trends, peoples, groups, cultures, ideas and institutions.

• 36 credit hours in the discipline, 21 of which must be upper-division (3000+ level). 30 credit hours must be completed with a grade of C or better.
• Students should plan to complete all required lower-division courses in their chosen track prior to taking upper-division courses.
• All students must take an exit exam and complete a portfolio before graduation.

• PSC 3420 Political Theory
